ABOUT KATE
kate was born in cornwall, vermont and relocated with her family to virginia as a teenager. she showed a strong interest in art from an early age and when faced with needing to take an elective her senior year in high school she chose photography, where her passion for both art and observing others merged. she started off these teenage years shadowing local bands, capturing their essence on film. after relocating to northern virginia, to attend college at george mason university, she continued to nurture her love for photography, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in cultural photography, combining her interests in anthropology and photography.
while her initial focus was on documenting musicians, kate's evolution into digital saw her gradually transition to capturing individuals through pop up photobooths, headshots, branding, and event photography. her style is distinctly documentary, with an emphasis on candid moments, often approached from a distance to allow organic interactions to unfold naturally.
kate's photography, reflects a beautiful blend of nostalgia and whimsy. her work exudes a vintage-inspired charm with soft colors, textures, and film grain, while also conveying a dreamy, ethereal quality that captures the magic of everyday moments.
kate currently resides in alexandria, virginia with her two cats. she still shoots/develops film and loves spending time in the darkroom.she enjoys local attractions (dinosaur land to name one) and making super 8 films of her vacations. she is also passionate about good pizza, thrifting, ice cream, and attempting to keep her house plants alive (and out of reach of one of her cats). when not photographing weddings or events kate often spends time with her partner, tony, exploring the united states and documenting it with as many cameras as possible.
