Born in Cornwall, Vermont and raised in Virginia, she discovered photography through a high school elective and quickly became fascinated by the intersection of art and observation. What started as photographing local bands and musicians on film evolved into a lifelong interest in document people, communities, and the stories they carry with them.

Kate earned a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Photography from George Mason University, combining her interest in photography and anthropology. That background continues to shape her work today, influencing a candid style that prioritizes authenticity over performance and connection over perfection.
